Delicates | Declutter Tips

Delicates, oddly enough, can be a great source of laundry clutter.

Weird, I know.

Why?

delicatesFor most women, washing our delicates can be quite a chore. One that we save up for.

No one likes to run their washing machine with barely anything in it.

And usually those same people don’t even consider handwashing. Eh-hum, I’m one of them.

Listen, I didn’t buy a washing machine that could do-it-all to still have to hand wash.

Enter the small pile of … delicates.

The special items in a wardrobe, that often cost more – require a certain level of care & will send any woman into a unique level of crazy if a man “just throws ‘em in the dryer”.

Ah, this also means the pile is strategically place in a spot the man {hopefully} won’t notice.

So, how do you deal with decluttering this situation?

Delicates Day:

Each month, no matter how many delicates I have contributed to the pile, I have a delicates day.

I warn the men in my house {remember I have teenage boys & a husband} that my bathroom won’t be a place they’ll want to see for a while.

Usually the kiddos have no problem with this – they stay far away. #FireDude on the other hand … there is usually a small sigh that escapes under his breath when he sees the shower curtain rod transformed into a drying rack.

On the upside?

Our bathroom, bedroom and entire first floor of the house smell fantastic! {Thank you Purex Crystals for that}

Your Delicates Day:

What does this mean for you?

As in all declutter tips, find what works for you. If you have plenty of delicates to wash each weekend – add it to your domestic chore list. If you’re like me & rarely dip into the delicates then pick a day of the month.

Making it a job you look forward to can help too, enter the smell good factor.

How about you?

Do you need declutter tips for your delicates or do you have a pretty good system already?
